Life before the great depression was great. People had great jobs and the stock markets were good. They were doing what some people call living the life but not everybody even when the economy is great there is still people that cant make it. They either get in to much debt or just lose their jobs and cant afford things. Right up until the depression people thought the stock market was the best thing ever it was pretty much a " get rich quick " kinda deal. But when the economy got bad and the stock markets crashed people had tons of money in the stocks and it was suddenly gone. Not knowing what to do losing all this money people paniked takeing out loans. There for taking out loans and not being able to pay them pack was huge because the banks took a lot of peoples houses because they couldnt pay their loans back. During the Depression people had nothing i mean some had no houses no food no Nothing. They couldnt support their families and couldnt find any jobs. It really was a tough time for America. Families were living in little shacks basicaly.
